FILM SCORING
A chef wouldn’t go through the effort of making ravioli from scratch, using foraged wild mushrooms and their finest ingredients to then finish the dish off by drowning it in store-bought Alfredo sauce. Why would you want to do that to your film?
We not only produce film, we produce original music. We, the co-founders of SOAK, are both musicians and music composers who bring a unique blend of artistic vision and technical expertise to our projects and the projects of others. With years of experience in both the music and film industries, we have a deep understanding and interest in how sound and visuals intertwine to create compelling cinematic experiences. Our dual roles as filmmakers and composers allow us to craft film where the score is seamlessly integrated – enhancing the emotional depth and storytelling. Their shared passion for music and cinema gives them a unique advantage when creating compelling works for both clients and audiences.

GENERAL NOTION
SOAK
GENERAL NOTION (EST. 2017) is a fictional design firm that explores concepts for climate adaptation through a lens of childlike wonder. As global warming urges us to slow down and adapt, GENERAL NOTION embraces a design philosophy that prioritizes delight over speed and collective joy over individual convenience.

At SOAK, we not only believe that audio is arguably the most important part of film production, we also believe that original scores are vital to the success of producing a video or film. Scores create the feel that enhance storytelling by evoking specific emotions and deepening the audience's connection to the narrative. Unlike pre-existing music, original compositions can be intricately synchronized with the visuals, allowing for seamless integration with the film's pacing, tone, and thematic elements. They can amplify dramatic moments, build suspense, underscore humour, and create playfulness in ways that generic tracks cannot achieve. Moreover, original scores add a unique identity to the film, making it more memorable and distinctive.
